Virtual Shared Reading for Eltham & neighbours : )
Our lovely librarian Liz from Eltham + libraries was running a virtual shared reading group while public spaces were unavailable. Participants enjoyed it so much that she is continuing to offer both real-life & online groups!
If you would like to join in please install ZOOM on your phone or device and email Liz for the meeting ID and the story/poem.
“We have regularly had attendees from Australia, Palmerston North and Hawera – sharing the bubbles. As things continue to revert to ‘normal’ I intend to not only hold the Virtual Read (now on Thursdays at 1.00 via Zoom) but also a in-library event on (tbc) Monday – probably 10-12 – but may also be early afternoon….
I am also convening a Casual Cuppa online – Next week we are extending into the Yarn Circle at Opunake and into Manaia library also.
We have had the regulars around the table, those who wish to remain home on the computer screen… loving it”
Hot tips for virtual shared reading :
1: Pause after people speak before chiming in, sometimes there may be a lag and they may not have finished talking…
2: If you are on a computer select the “grid view” top right on the screen to see all participants at once.
3: During the reading aloud mute your microphone to minimise background noise.
