Last week three of our Selwyn pānui tahi friends performed in an Auckland Fringe Festival event “An Oldie but a goodie.” This was the conclusion of an Active Arts performance poetry group run at Selwyn Village by the enthusiastic and energetic team of Fiona Mogridge and Nina Burchett. The feedback we got was that people really enjoyed this group and this was evident at the show. James performed his own composition “The red balloon” with glee and released balloons as he said “look at me fly! ” Mary-Rose Wilson read the classic “Stopping by woods on a Snowy evening” by Robert Frost. We were so pleased to hear Mary-Rose’s beautiful expressive voice that we we know so well from reading shared with the community. Val Harris also performed and her delivery showcased her wonderful talent for storytelling. It was a wonderful performance all round! Thanks to everyone for a fantastic “ensemble of poetry to delight and entertain.” Delighted and entertained we were!
