Dominic Hoey 1985

Dominic Hoey is a poet, author, youth worker, and small dog owner from Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa.

He’s released two best selling novels and written a million love poems. Through his Learn To Write Good program, Dominic has taught thousands of students how to think dyslexic. He dreams of one day starting an animal rescue farm.

It’s like Obi just came in & said you’re coming with me to Grey Lynn! The language is so poetic, there’s not a word wasted. Nothing unnecessary! “

  2. B says growing up in Shanghai he loved arcades. He says it was a place for kids not welcome at school & not wanted at home. Good kids never went there. They would smoke & hang out & mildly bully outsiders & a community formed that was considered problematic so in 1990 the government banned anyone under 18 from arcades!! This reminded S of the Australian ban on social media for under 16 & we also talked a lot about people treating you wierd when you’re from a certain place.. we all had stories on that one & we went half an hour over time 😁
